Inspired by the likes of Wolfgang Laib and Yamamoto Motoi, as well as Tibetan sand painting and Hindu Mandala design, my college thesis sought to create “paintings” made from carefully placed rice grains or delicately arranged soil that spoke to themes of ephemerality, spiritual communion, and cosmopolitanism.
